"Happy New Era."
That's the first thing my husband said to me this morning.
That's what I want to say to you, too.
The weight of so many expectations, and so many hopes for change, must be enormous. As for me, behind all of my specific hopes, is one:
that this might be a new era of participation in our democracy, that citizens are empowered to find their voice, and to work for justice in their communities.
What is your deepest hope?
"Happy New Era."

And a "Happy New Era" to you too! My deepest hope is about hope...that those who have not had any for so long will find it awakening, that we can get past the cynicism that says that things cannot change, that we can begin to trust that there is enough to go around if we open our hands and minds and hearts to new ways of thinking and being with one another.
Happy New Era, indeed. I hope that we can become a country that learns to work together and strive for unity not this divisiveness and polarizing sense of entitlement....I think if this can happen in the larger public arena it will eventually filter down to smaller arenas, like towns and churches....we are not the country, nor are we the people, I think we can be....
(....of course I do have pollyanna tendencies....)
Absolutely!
My wish? A willingness to put partisanship aside and GET THINGS DONE FOR THE GOOD OF OUR ENTIRE POPULATION.
Guaranteed medical care for all citizens, without backbreaking cost.
A living minimum wage, and a cap of executive pay and benefits.
How about that for a start?
I hope that all of the energy and community of this day will continue to fuel us as we are all called to roll up our sleeves and act now and be in solidarity.
My deepest hope is that people will give him some time.
My hope is that people on both sides of the aisle can work together, for change. My wish is that the power of special interests and lobbyists in Congress would be eliminated forever. I'm not as optimistic on that front.
My hope is that a new era of service is dawning so that we can help efffect change, and not (inappropriately) expect government leaders can do it all...
My deepest hope is about the same as that of RevDrKate. Can we dare to stop being so cynical and jaded and actually hope?
