The Dog is a Good Sport

As promised, here are a couple of pictures of Scout in her too-small pumpkin outfit.
She is a good sport, even though you can tell she's not thrilled.

I think, in the future, we will stick with brightly colored scarves (unless someone else has a better idea).

And, as a bonus, here's a picture of Scout doing one of her favorite activities: lounging on "her" loveseat (the one she is allowed to sit on). This picture was probably taken after doing another of her favorite activities: running.

In fact, it was probably taken on Sunday afternoon. She should have been good and tired then. Just before Husband and Stepson left for church, she bolted out the front door and ran down the street (we live on a dead-end without much traffic). I got three messages at church on Sunday about how Scout was on the loose and they didn't have time to run after her.

So I was in a terrible mood as I drove home, not knowing what to expect. Expecting the worst. I drove in the driveway and got out of the car. I called out: "Scout! Scout!"

I was shocked to hear a voice call out my name.

It was my next door neighbor.

He and his wife had seen Scout and grabbed her. When I got home, she had been playing in the backyard with their dog, Sadie.

I think they deserve a nice present. What do you think?

I agree!! That crazy Scout!

What a cute dog. Scout does not look happy in the costume, but on the loveseat... so happy!

of course, there is more of a story about why she bolted, but I'm not at liberty to say.

Yes, I think the neighbors need some special doggy treats (and maybe muffins for the thumb-havers).

I'm glad Scout was "rescued"...our dog has done the escaping act a few times, and we've rescued our neighbor's beagle on occasion. It helps to have neighbors who are dog people :)

The neighbors deserve something chocolate, I would say.

Scout is definitely not a pumpkin person. Even though that IS a very cute costume. And orange does set off his beautiful coloring.

Happy Halloween!

Neighborly thing to do.

PG --I agree orange is nice. I really like Scout in red, though. Would like to get her a nice red scarf or bandanna!

oh yes, and another part of the story... neighbors are church members. They skipped church on Sunday!

But, this once, it turned out to be a good thing, didn't it?

aw what nice neighbors! MochaJava has a black bandana with ghosts on it... so far he hasn't shredded it. He bolted morning. i stood exasperated in the alley behind church wanting to yell "come here you #$% dog" but of course i didn't...

hopefully Scout gets some treats for the halloween effort!

We all must skip church once in awhile... Although I guess you don't get to do that so impetuously Diane, do you???

Scout is adorable in her costume, as well as reclining on her special loveseat!
Glad she was okay on Sunday, so scary!!

Scout is cute in her pumpkin costume, but she looks embarrassed to me.

You not only owe your nice neighbors, you owe Scout.

Oops! I believe that I urged you to buy the costume, didn't I?

A sweet present from Scout--yes!

Scout is cute in his costume, but I like him stretched out on the couch best of all.
