In the last few days, I have mislaid or possibly permanently lost the following items:
1. my journal. (yes, I still do use it occasionally.)
2. my church keys
3. a Christmas present I bought for my brother
4. a pair of woolen gloves (red, black and gray striped. They match a scarf and hat I bought last year)
5. my GLASSES, for crying out loud.
6. the skit I want to do at confirmation tonight.
update: I found my journal by calling Large Chain Bookstore where Husband and I ate soup a couple of days ago. I found my church keys by dumping everything out of my Large Bag onto the floor of my office (after closing my door so that no one would hear the din).
I think that I am not handling stress in the best way right now.
I am working on sermons for weddings, funerals, Sunday and Christmas. I have not yet started asking children to read at the family service on Christmas eve, nor have I gotten a young family with a baby to play the Holy Family at that service. I also am trying to reschedule a dentist appointment, have some regular medical tests before the end of the year, and get a hair cut.
Also, take Scout to the vet to see if we can figure out why she is having so many problems with her intestines.
Also, clean the house, decorate and figure out what we are going to have to eat on Christmas eve and day. And finish shopping. And wrap presents.
Advent 2 service is tonight and is devoted to St. Lucia and to light.
"The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light."
A small light would be good, too.

Oh Diane! I send you so many prayers right now. And for Scout too!!!
You simply have so much going on right now.
Today I heard a short segment on our local NPR station about St. Lucia day and thought of you.
Light - brilliant light, small light, bright light, hint of light... may you find what you need.
I hope you find some light.
Prayers for you. Remember to stop and breathe deeply when the tsunamis hit. Prayers for Scout. This too shall pass. Sending a beam from my flashlight your way!
Lie down for 10 minutes when you are only STARTING to feel tired!

oh diane... i'd make you some espresso but we broke the pot! sound to me like you have the "hectic pastor syndrome"... or maybe it's a virus cuz i think i got some of it too!
The thing I am lovng most this year is that I am not serving full time in a parish right now. Last year on internship was a good foretaste of future Christmas seasons, so I'm going to enjoy this "less busy" one while I have the chance.
Prayers to all of you who are in the thick of things!
Diane, hello! Sorry I've been such a stranger. Can you direct me to the post you made a while back about liturgy? Does this ring a bell? It was about how important liturgy is to you and how you love seeing it as a distilled version of the pattern of how we live out our days. If too hard to find, not worries!! I feel a need to re-visit that one.
(((Diane)))
Hope Scout's troubles clear up soon!
grace thing, here are links to the two posts I did on liturgy:
a stranger in japan discovers liturgy and Living liturgy I hope one of them is the one you were looking for.
Prayers for you and Scout, and the light.
(((Diane))) You ARE handling things the best way you can. Wishing you peace. . . .and a little glimpse of the patient waiting of Advent.
Heart hug to you, Diane.
You have a lot on your plate! Hang in there!
Prayers for the constant small light to be seen.
If it helps, in my business we have a saying: "If you forget where you put your keys, that's normal. If you forget what keys are for, that's a problem."
Steve, it does help, believe it or not.
Thank you Diane!! It was the "Living Liturgy" one I loved. May you be given some life from your living liturgy that you work so hard to create. May it breathe back to you.
Oh Diane...there's nothing wrong with you. Me and Rowan think you're great. But, it does seem like you are trying to tell yourself something. I know it's not always possible to take a time out but I hope you can get some rest and refreshment. Prayers going up for you dear blog pal.

Diane, you are stressed, my friend. What can give in your life? What's not absolutely mandatory?
St. Lucia, join with us in intercession for Diane to be relieved from the stress in her life and see light.
I lost my keys and two important pieces of paper-work this week! Ack, maybe mercury is in retrograde again.
