It's Raining

We got in late last night. The temperature was 60 degrees here in Phoenix (really, Scottsdale.) My sister picked us up at the airport and we all exchanged late Christmas presents. And went to bed.

This morning it is raining and cloudy. I think this is going to be our only rainy day, if the forecast is correct. We had coffee this morning, but did not pick tangelos and make fresh orange juice -- one of the things we like to do.

We had a bit of an adventure getting off to the airport. Dog sitter was set to come and pick up Scout right before we left. But she got stuck and didn't get there. We were worried about missing our flight and finally left a message with my mother-in-law to come and stay until the dog sitter got there. She was gracious to agree, so we left a note on the door and left Scout alone for just a few minutes (we think).

Scout was not so happy about being left in the house after all of the luggage was gone. But we phoned our sitter after we checked in at the airport and found that they were on the way to her house. So she is safe at her sitter's house, now. Unfortunately, they did not get all that hamburger I cooked out of the refrigerator. Just the dry food which is the "new diet" we are trying out.

The vet thinks Scout has a canine version of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. He's just starting us trying some different things, and we are hoping to find something that will work. I'm trying not to worry about her too hard while am here.

It looks like I will have some blogging capabilities here, but probably no pictures or anything fancy! We did go for a short morning walk in the rain already.

Diane, I'm glad the Scout-sitting thing worked out in the end. Enjoy yourself, and have your tangelo juice tomorrow. We are enjoying fresh-squeezed juice from Grandpère's very own navel oranges. Delicious!

I hope Scout has a good time while you are away :-)...I had a dog once with IBS, once she was on the right food her life was much better! SO, hoping the same for Scout...

Have a great time in Phoenix.

Mompriest, thanks for the thoughts re: IBS. I think right now the hardest thing is being away when we are just starting to try a new diet! I hope we find the right thing, soon. this one is "rabbit and potato". Hubby said, "She should like that." (she likes rabbits -- real ones)

Enjoy! My favorite psalm quote was up: Ps 30:5

Have a great vacation!

BTW, if the dry dog food doesn't help, check into home-cooked recipes.

I hope you have a wonderful visit.

We've had a lot of trouble finding a food that Isabel can tolerate. What food did you settle on? (Rabbit and potato sounds like Timberland or something like that.) We tried four different foods (increasingly expensive) and she finally seems to be mostly okay now, though she still throws up sometimes. Prayers for Scout!

Oops, I mean Timberwolf!!!

garten -- this is a brand called Royal Canine, I think. We'll see how it goes.

Amie used to get IBS whenever she had to stay away from home, but in retrospect I think it was more from the abrupt changes in diet than from the change in surroundings, since the time I finally got a clue and sent her to the kennel with her own food, she did fine. I still don't like to uproot her if I can help it, though.
I hope Scout's new food will help her tummy. I wonder if her problems are due to food allergies? One of my MIL's dogs has lots of allergies and has to eat duck and potato.

zorra -- we did a bunch of blood tests and she tested negative for allergies. that's why he's calling is IBS. I do think there's some stress involved.

We were in Chandler over the Holidays--not too far from where you are!

My sister, who is a chef, went to the Scottsdale Culinary Institute.

oh, I know where Chandler is, too!
