Bridge collapses over Mississippi River

Please keep the people of my community in your prayers this evening and over the next days as the 35W Bridge collapsed over the Mississippi River at about 6:00 p.m. tonight. So far we are still getting news and know that Husband's boys and my brother and his family are all right. But we are still watching, waiting and praying and hoping that you will do the same.

Please see this story for more information:

P.S. this is not far from where I live.

Thank you for posting. Once I heard the story I checked your site a couple of times before getting back here now. It all seemed almost surreal. Made myself stop watching the TV, and start praying real hard. For all who are impacted as responders, pastors, the families, those who don't know what the future holds and those who do. Glad you and yours are safe. Praying lots.

Diane, I thought of you among my friends in the Cities that I worried and prayed about tonight. So glad you are all ok. Still watching and praying....hard to believe it.

I know. This doesn't seem like the kind of thing that happens in Minneapolis.

Terrible. My niece and her husband travel that road. I guess I would have heard if they were not OK. It's too late to call tonight.

Diane, I'm glad you're safe.

Prayers for all.

Wow... Hard to imagine such a thing.
I am glad you are safe. May God be known in this, as in all things.

Oh, Diane, I knew you were up north but I hadn't placed you there in my mind's eye. Prayers indeed for everyone in that area. It's so shocking. Psalm 46 comes to mind....

This is my first stop this morning, to check on you as you are the only person I know that lives in that area. I'm glad to know that you and your family are all fine. Like the rest of the nation and the world, I am praying for the victims and their families and the entire community.

Glad to know you're okay, Diane. Some friends of ours are related to one of the sewer workers who was killed last week, and they're in your area now for his funeral. Looking at the map, it doesn't appear that they had to cross that bridge to get to their destination, but it's still rattling, considering what their family has already been through.

dogblogger, I'm sorry about your friends. That was pretty awful, and people are really asking questions about that incident.

I cannot imagine what it is like, even with the pictures and video. Continued prayers for you, your family and friends, and all affected by this.

Hard to believe even the morning after. Diane, I uploaded the pictures I posted from the slides at the WCCO website. Prayers continue....

glad to hear it, Grandmere Mimi. So far it doesn't look like anyone from our congregation was on the bridge. Whenever I hear about divers searching cars, I get heartsick.
