Would you like some whine with that?

Here is my day tomorrow (Saturday):

9:00 -10:30 A.M.
Intro to the Bible class with Third graders and their parents. This is usually pretty fun, although we usually start the class at 9:30 rather than 9:00. We learn a "books of the Old Testament" song, find all of the books of the Old Testament hidden around the room, practice looking up verses, and finding out something about the different kinds of writing in the Old Testament.

11:00 A.M.
Memorial service in the chapel, for one of the saints of the church. She was 97 years old. She wrote a book of her life, which I remember her proudly showing to me one day. She also played the organ by ear, and love to serve formal dinners. There is also a lunch afterward.

3:00 P.M.
Wedding in the sanctuary. They are a nice young couple. He is the grandson of a woman whose funeral I did last winter.

5:00 P.M.
Worship with communion in the chapel. My "All Saints" sermon -- "Our Lives With the Saints" with nods to James Martin's book My Life With the Saints, and to Mother Theresa, who has been in the news lately.

Also, the church happens to be full tomorrow. There is not one room left unused. There will be lots of activity in every corner of the church.

My question: Does it all really have to happen on the same day?
Answer: Apparently, yes.

P.S. Scout appears to have a form of kennel cough. She appears to have a "productive" cough, if you get my drift.

End of whine.

Now, I think I'll have a half a glass of wine, and re-read my funeral sermon, and my wedding sermon, and go to bed.

Oh, I think you need a full glass. That is one horrendous day ahead, even if each part of it is lovely and meaningful. Ye gads!

Off topic: I saw Scout today. OK, it was NC and it wasn't you walking the dog, so I guess it wasn't Scout, but must have been a twin. ADORABLE!

Whoa! Lots of stuff!

Sorry about the "productive" cough.

What a day--may the peace of the Lord surround and support you as you minister to so many.

Hope Scout's cough keeps being "productive" and not worrisome.

Now that is a true meaning for watch and pray and love for the church and doing Gods will.

I recall in Matthew 26:41; Jesus saying the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.

I know you are already into the "day" when I am posting this. Prayers for you as you journey through this mega-day. I think a full glass of wine at the end. Then stop over to see what we did to Luther at LTSG this week.

Dear Diane,

Me and Lindy hope that you had some fun on your big day and that when you get home you will have some treats and get some pets. Tell Scout to give you some kisses. That's what I do for Lindy.

Love,

Rowan

...me too!

Whew! By the time I am reading this the day is done and I hope you are at rest with wine in hand and Scout (not coughing productively or otherwise) reclining near you. Hope Sunday is a tad more Sabbath-like!
