Christmas Walk

We will be heading out soon to a "Christmas walk" in a small historic town near to us. We have never done this before here, but used to regularly attend a Christmas walk in the Chicago area when we visited at Thanksgiving.

Scout will not be able to come, of course, so I took her on a mid-day walk around the neighborhood. At a park just up the street from us, two small children shouted out, "Can we pet your dog?" Before I could say anything, they started running toward Scout, and she started backing up. So it appeared that today, at least, the answer would be, "no." Scout usually likes small children, but does get a little worried when strangers start running toward her.

The little girl then shouted, "Is that were-wolf dog?" "No," I answered. "Then why does she look like a were-wolf dog?" she asked.

Question: what does a were-wolf dog look like?

Hope you have a good walk. As for the answer to your question, I'm thinkin' that at least in the eyes of those little girls, a were-wolf dog looks like Scout -:)

As the human mom of another were-wolf, I define were-wolf dogs as wise canines who refuse to play the tail-wagging game on demand; in return for the freedom to back away or bark, they are the most abundantly affectionate, loyal friends to those human companions who truly understand them. Congratulations on living with a were-wolf dog.

I always think werewolves look vicious and snarling. Scout doesn't seem to fit that mode.

Hope your walk was/is fun.

I am always cautious when my dogs encounter little children...usually well behaved (the dogs), but I watch them (the dogs) carefully...

yes, I'm always cautious too, Mompriest. Scout is almost always good, but every once in awhile she just starts backing up. She doesn't show any aggression, just tries to get away. I think it mostly happens when little kids runs straight at her.

Children should be trained not to run up to dogs. Who is in charge of teaching this child respect for creation and creatures? I am just appalled by that.

I'd have told the kid, "It takes one to know one." But, then, I'm in a mood today.

What's a Christmas Walk anyway?

What does a were-wolf dog look like, and how would we know? :)

I like what Elaine said. It sounds like a description of every cattle dog I've ever known and loved.
