Three out of Four Bumpers Agree....

I'm not quite at the point that I can joke about this, but I am beating myself up a little bit less today. I also DO realize that it could have been a lot worse. I was driving to the hospital Saturday after the church service when the traffic on the freeway came to a sudden stop. (There is a lot of road construction around here, and it is winter.) I tried to slow down and stop, discerned that I might not be able to stop in time, and attempted to make a lane change into the right hand lane, which was clear. That's when my car suddenly started to spin. A moment of terror. Two other cars had some damage as well, but nobody was hurt.

I'm still a little down, although after calling my insurance company, and visiting the auto body shop, it appears that they will be able to fix the car. They aren't sure, of course, until they open the hood, which they advised me not to do.

Tonight we are getting our getting our first honest-to-goodness "snow advisory". Three to four inches of snow is falling. It's pretty, but it makes me want to stay in, not go out. I did enjoy watching Scout play in the snow for a little while, which calmed my soul. She also kept me company Saturday evening when I was feeling like a dolt. Dogs are good that way. So are husbands.

I'd like to glean a nice religious lesson from this, but I don't have one yet. Except that for calming the soul, often, just a small miracle will do.

Truly, an accident--even if it is simply a bumper-bender--shakes one to the core. I'm just glad you're OK. That's what really matters.

oh, look at Scout in the snow...so pretty! I have had a number of minor fender benders and even one terrifying spin out in a snow storm in Wisconsin (on my way to my second day of work, my first church job as an ordained person)...sigh...I know the feeling of wanting to stay in and be cozy....

glad you are OK! and everyone else too!

You're human. Accidents happen. I'm sure you're the only one who views yourself as a "dolt." I'm so glad you're safe.

Scary moment...glad you are ok. Winter driving-Bah Humbug! Scout does look like a natural winter lover though.

I am so sorry. When driving, there is no such thing as a small accident. Even the least of them unsettles lives and rattles one's reality. I am glad no one was hurt.

Scout is beautiful in the snow.

Spinning in your car must've been very scary! I am so glad you are all right. And indeed we've all had accidents!

Ditto on the Scout looking so pretty in the snow comments.

The helpless feeling is so unsettling. I remember beating myself up after an accident until I came up with an explanation that seemed to explain what I had done wrong.

SO sorry about your fender bender. It's an awful feeling, I know... but try not to beat yourself up about it. And... I really liked that small miracle. Quite lovely.

i think the spiritual lesson here is Scout - in the photo he is the light in the darkness! Very Advent-like! :)

Oh, so glad that you are ok, but feel your distress at having had an accident in the first place.

I wish I felt like a dog when they stand like that in the snow, oblivious to cold but so aware of white stuff falling from the sky...they know things we don't.

Glad you weren't hurt, and you are not a dolt.

Forgive yourself Diane, you are not a dolt, just very human like the rest of us.

Like all your other readers, I'm glad you are okay!

Good grief, girl, I'm glad you're OK!!

Hey, remember that whole "saved by grace..." thing? That's for you, too. :-)

I appreciate your prayers and thanks. I can't help being sad when I look at my car.

But I have good insurance, mostly (except I didn't get rental car reimbursement).

Thank God you're OK. I am sorry you had to go through those moments of terror, and the resulting feelings that go with close calls. But, I'm just glad you're OK.

This is a wonderful photo of Scout. It should be in a magazine or something.

I'm sorry too, Diane. I've been involved in spin out in snow too, and know how discombubilating that is. (((o))) ..

love the beautiful picture of Scout.

not at all fond of the sound of "rending metal" myself, so glad you weren't hurt and the vehicle is fix-able. (And isn't it a good thing that they're built now so fenders and bumpers crumple -- AND WE DON'T)

Rats.
Glad you're ok. Hope all will feel well soon.

Sorry to hear this, but glad that you're okay. The weather has been nasty around here as well.
