Well, yes, good for Scout, but perhaps traumatic for you. I know when The Boy swallows a baby rabbit in just a gulp or two, I don't feel very good about it! But it happens nonetheless. They are, after all, hunter-types.
Mr. Woody K. Nibs has killed two rabbits. He left one on my front porch, headless no less, on Easter Sunday and the second one he brought to the back porch. It was still alive when I found him with it but too late to save it. Those kills are just part of his menagerie.
Ginger has no kills, and finds Woody's antics barbaric... what's wrong with just barking and getting mom's attention that way? I kind of feel the same way but Woody says cats can't bark so he has to do something else.
I'm watching Woody out the window as he's spying on a young squirrel right now :::sigh:::
I had an Akita who used to kill things---she got a squirrel once and a cat. :( The worst was a skunk, but somehow, she didn't get sprayed. She was big, too, so it surprised me that she could manage to catch them.
Hi, I read your comment to my friend Dorothy's blog, urbanservant, and wanted to thank you. Dorothy and I have been friends since we were three, and I have witnessed her calm, logical, and extremely caring approach to everything in her life; first as the older sister of two adopted siblings, and then as the mother of her nine incredible children. Incidentially, my cousin is a Lutheran pastor in the Minneapolis area. I am not sure, but I think she is doing pastoral care now at a hospital? My bird dog, Ruby, almost caught a bird in our backyard...yup...ran after a low flying bird chomping her mouth trying to catch it....probably would have if I hadn't been out there yelling at her and slowing her down just by a breath. In that breath she thought about it and then refused to obey...the bird escaped (or died from fear under the rose bush, not sure which)

I know. We feel kind of ugh about it, especially my husband, who witnessed the whole thing, and actually heard the rabbit scream.
